Count your blessings

Hello, May greetings to you all. I'm so happy to be bouncing along into the month of May. With so many things to look forward to at this time of year, it's a very happy month indeed.

I've started on a new project too, and I'm really excited about this one.

I bought this little key cupboard back in November last year, a charity shop find. You can tell by the grey light in the photographs that we were in the depths of winter. I really wanted to paint it, but didn't fancy doing it outside in the cold, so it was stored away.

A few weeks ago I dusted it off, and gave it a few licks of paint outside in the lovely sunshine.

At around the same time Amy started a new project too. A stitch along to count your blessings. What a lovely idea. So I've decided to join in , and turn my key cupboard into a count your blessings key cupboard , phew. So far I have marked out my rectangles on a piece of grey linen. There are thirty six in all, each one will represent something to be grateful for. I've left it on the arm of my chair. It's waiting for me to find a quiet moment to sit down and enjoy adding my marks with needle and thread.

I've chosen some bright happy skeins, that will pop out against the grey of the linen. A nice contrast to the cream paint of the cupboard too.

I love my little corner, it's ready and waiting for me to make a cup of tea, turn the radio on, and make a start.

This is how I left it yesterday evening, and this morning it's calling me to make the first stitch.

Can I show you what I get up to as I stitch along? That would be great, you can help keep me on track x.

What a sweet little cupboard and I'm sure by the time you're done it'll be sweeter still, it's a lovely idea. Nice to have a sneeky peek into your home too, it looks lovely and cosy in there.

What a super idea, looking forward to seeing it develop.

I'm new to your blog, I was drawn in by the title (my son is called Bertie) but then I was charmed by everything I read and saw. So I'm here to stay!

Lovely cupboard, but I really need you to rehome your radio, lol! I have the matching fabric waiting to be turned into a bilnd and a bench cover. It is gorgeous.

I'm such a fan of May, I wouldn't mind if time stood still and it was May forever. How nice to start a special project at such a lovely time of year, and in such a beautiful home. Enjoy.

I think you should start with a key of some kind, representing the blessing of having a lovely home to live in.

Hi Berthie!

This inspires me to pick up my self-designed embroidery alphabet, that I planned to make for our son. I designed it when he was one year old. He's 4 now. As I had to promise myself to first finish all my unfinished objects, this will be the first in line to do afterwards.
In the near future I'll have to stay in the hospital for a long time. So the alphabet (also on a grey linen) will be in my luggage too. That's a great way of spending the long hours in or next to my bed.
Keep up the good work. I'll follow the progress.
Kind greetings from Holland.
