I was chatting with my neighbour the other day, about wanting some old grain sacks. He didn't ask me what I wanted them for, and I was quite relieved as I think he would have thought me slightly mad.
Today on my doorstep I found a pile of sacks waiting for me when I got home.
My kind neighbour had left them for me. What a thoughtful chap. Does he not know how much these go for on ebay? I was so chuffed, especially when I'd had a good look at them.
Pink and green stripes, stamped codes in black ink, the perfect colours and rustic patina I was looking for. I was so giddy. I put two to good use straight away.
Some more cushions for my hall bench. I am so pleased with how they turned out. They look right at home.
Where would we be without our neighbours? His kind act made my day. I've shown my neighbour what I've done with his sacks.

My suspicions were correct, he just chuckled and walked away x.

They look lovely as cushions. I would have loved to see his face....lol.

Your bench is looking great. I can well imagine your neighbour's face when he saw your cushions, the "older generation" think we're nuts and are much into UPVC, wall-to-wall carpets, gas fires and other such home comforts, I find!
Oooh - lucky you! The bench looks fab.
Wow, how generous of him. They look great and sit so well with your other lovely cushions too. x
love it :-)

How fantastic and what a lovely collection of cushions!
What a blessing your sweet neighbor is. The cushions are lovely, Bertie...but they even looked pretty stacked together in the one photo you took!

Was your neighbour laughing at the grain sacks? Or the fact you have so many lovely cushions . . . . ? Men don't understand cushions do they?
Hi Bertie,
your neighbours reaction made me chuckle too, but 'wow' how lucky to receive such fantastic grain sacks, they look like they make great cushions!

How perfect, I think you were meant to have them, they do indeed look right at home on your pretty bench, well done you :)
They are beautiful aren't they.
I have lovely neighbours too, I am very fond of two elderly ish ladies who live on their own near me, they are always going into their vintage biscuit tins when they see my children playing in the garden and come out with fancy treats for them, so sweet :)

A girl that has the same taste as me, I love them; they look like they have always been there on the bench alongside the other gorgeous cushions.
Thank you for your lovely comment!

Great cushions, but I can see why he must have thought you were potty. My Dad wouldn't get it either.

Wow, I just came across your blog and love it. And yes, good neighbours are a blessing! I have a lovely neighbour next door who is always there if needed but is never intrusive. We both pop in to 'borrow' bits like milk or sugar. I love your cushions too, they look gorgeous x
I am so glad I just hopped on over to your lovely blog. I have just read back through all your entries and have thoroughly enjoyed my read. Your home is lovely and the countryside you live in just perfect. Beautiful!
