Hello friends I hope you are all dry and well. I've been trying to keep out of the rain this weekend, by crafting away on a few goodies for Christmas.
I decided to make my own version of this. I do hope those sweet people don't mind, but I am trying to be thrifty. If I am able to make rather than buy, I will choose that path every time.
So a glass jar from Ikea, a bit of glue, and some scraps of fabric was all it took.
My favourite part was adding the treats. We are lucky enough to have an old fashioned sweet shop in town, that has rows and rows of glass jars filled with sweets. I stocked up on flying saucers, sherbet fountains and dib dabs. I enjoy taking my little ones there on a Friday after school, to choose some treats, just as my Mum used to take me.
But I don't think it will stay full for long x.

Brilliant idea. I might just make my son one of those 'tuck shop jars' to take back to Uni with him.

Hello Bertie and thank you for your lovely comments on my blog today. I have the feeling we think pretty much alike. Love the stocking filler idea and am hoping you inspire me with some more! Glass jars are just the best for his sort of thing aren't they? Have a lovely evening out of the rain x
Fab idea Bertie, I love the way you have decorated the jar, much more personal and pretty than the big expensive one! xx Gem
He He, good timing, I bought those jars from Ikea only yesterday to do a similar thing with for my children, I was amazed at the prices I saw the origainals selling for ;)
Great thriftiness I think ;)

Bertie -- They are fabulous. I have only just started blogging but only last week did a post about this very thing-- all things sweet. Please have a look as I am in the beginning stages and need all the encouragement I can get. We are off to Ikea next week and think some of these jars will definitely jump in the trolley !! Thanks Bertie
What a fantastic idea, my lot would absolutely love this for xmas, so i'll be making one each for them :-)
Thanks for the inspiration
What a fab idea! I bought a vintage french kilner jar on my trip to Ludlow with the idea of filling it with colourful Quality Street; but now you've got me thinking of vinatge sweeties instead!
Thanks for sharing a lovely idea.
Have a great week.

Hello Bertie, what a beautiful gift! I’m tying too make as many handmade gifts as I can this year.
Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you about the scarves; I will be selling them on a website soon.
In my next post I hope to put some more pictures of some of the scarves that I have made.
Love Lou xxx
What a pretty idea. It particularly appeals, as I am forever collecting interesting glass jars from our recycling bin! lol. But dont always know what to do with them.
Hope you are having a lovely week. And thank you for your really lovely comments on my blog. Very much appreciated.

I like it very much, especially the label. I agree with you - it won't stay full for long. I always used to buy sweets for my little boys on Tuesdays. That was the day I got my family allowance. Every time we went to the shops, they used to ask me if it was Tuesday, yet? When it was, their little faces used to light up with joy.
Blessings, Star
Oh yours is much nicer than the one that inspired you, love it, what a gorgeous jar, beribboned and filled. I'm all for the thrifty thing, and actually find it quite satisfying at the same time, stretches our creativity, doesn't it? Love Vanessa xxx (do you mind if i knit)
