They're here. They arrived all sleepy from the car journey.
The pig ark was all ready and waiting for them. Comfort tested personally by D, who nearly fell asleep inside the other night.
They soon settled in, and had a good look round. I think everything was met with approval.

We are so pleased with our decision to keep pigs. We are one step closer on our road to self sufficiency.
They are so much fun to watch, they never leave each others side, and they're getting noisier by the day.
I've resisted the temptation to name them. But the children call them Chunk and Punk.
They've had so many visitors coming to see them this week, and taken it all in their stride. Everyone has given us so much support, and a few neighbours are now thinking of getting some pigs too. Thank you for all your kind words, I know that you all understand why we are doing this. The pigs are very happy indeed, that says it all really x.

fabulous!
Aww lovely pigalettos! Bless!
Good luck with the self sufficiency Bertie. We did it in 1983, not to such a great extent. We didn't have room for pigs, but we did have room for chickens. I kept them for ten years and it was most rewarding.
I'm sure that you and your family will make a success of it.
Blessings, Star
Good luck. Welcome to the world of time wasters (as in take a cup of tea down and have a chat with the pigs - I used to spend loads of time with mine) Have a look at this site http://www.smallholdinglife.co.uk/ it is a friend of mine who spent most of his life as a veggie and now lives his dream on a small holding, raising pigs for the same reason as you and I. He has just been on some great courses including sausage making and smoking hams.

Good luck!!
Thay are so cute. I would call them Margo and Jerry as you are certainly living 'The Good Life' X
I loved reading this post and seeing the photo's of the dear little piggies. What a great life they will have! Very exciting, well done x
They'll have such a happy healthy life with you, they look pleased with themselves already.
We had weaners for the first time last year and named the Scratchings and Crackling! They lived with friends then but this year we are having them and they're arriving in a couple of weeks time. In the meantime we have our Kune Kune boar who very soon will be meeting his ladyfriend. I hope it is love at first grunt!

It's funny that one is called chunk as that is the nickname of my eldest son as when he was a baby he was a bit of a porker :-)
Real pigs outside - just how it should be, fantastic.
Have fun being a swineherd!

Greetings from Italy!
Oh yum yum!!

Utterly, utterley gorgeous!!!
And they will have such a great outdoor life. We had a joint from some friend who reared a couple of Berkshires.
I roasted it really slowely with home grown apples tossed in and a bottle of local (Hereford!) cider and it was sublime!!
Good luck with them,
Louise x
