Yesterday was the 5th VW Festival set in the beautiful grounds of Harewood House.
We visit every year to see everyone buffed, polished and looking dandy.
I've been asking D for a camper van for years, and every year I secretly hope that I might come home with one. But sadly this year all I came home with was a new tea-towel. He says he'll buy me one for my 40th, but as I'm sooo young that's years away ; )
I spotted this cute picnic hamper, but couldn't part with the £35 they wanted for it.
Now if I am ever lucky enough to own a camper I think it would have to be something like this.
Isn't she gorgeous?
Look inside. Oh yes I can imagine it now. Setting off on an adventure, not knowing where you are going. Stopping to admire the beautiful scenery and enjoying a cocktail or two.
Or maybe head down to the beech, light a little camp fire.
and enjoy some chilled champagne. Oh yes that's the life for me.
I just adore Beetles too, a little picnic hamper thrown in back and off you go.
Sadly it's time for me to say good bye to my Beetle Patsy. We've had lots of adventures of our own, but now the children are getting bigger, and she can't handle our bumpy lane for much longer. It's time for me to get a grown ups car! Boo.
Good bye Patsy it's been fun x.

I am sharing the love with you! If only I could have my very own one, a girl can dream.
Cute tea towel though! :0)

Yes it's good to dream, and who wouldn't want one of those cute campers?! the picnic set was pretty damn gorgeous too xo
I've just swapped my beloved Beetle for a more practical car to suit my growing family - but in my head I'm still a Beetle driver!
Look forward to seeing your 40th Birthday pressie...many years hence naturally!
Boo hoo indeed Bertie - who wants to grow up!! Patsy is gorgeous. Well unless it is the promise of a VW for your 40th which I have to admit only one of those sounds good to me being not 'quite' there myself!!
I would love a VW, but I know so many friends that have one and they are soooo unreliable now if it was a Moggie Minor - mmmmmmm Happy Days would definitley be here for me!
Have a good one,
Nina x

I'm way over 40 and I still have not got one!;-(
I know a girl who has...it is gorgeous! ;-)

oh lets keep hoping that we win one on dorset cereals!! if we wish hard enough, cross all our fingers and toes, turn around, touch the ground, keep off all the cracks in the pavement, don't put new shoes on the table and never pull faces when the wind changes....then....just then....do you think we could win one?! x ps love your blog x
Hey Bertie! Hope you don't mind that I voted you and Tabiboo for the Dorset Award this month. Your blogs are so pretty that I thought it would bring you the attention you so well deserve. Take care and have a wonderful day.
I'm not much of a VW fan, but that does look like fun! I love that first pic. It's like a rainbow reflected in the chrome...
What a fantastic day out! I would love to attend that some day. I have no intention of growing up and can see myself in my seventies exploring the countryside in my VW canmpervan :0).
Thank you for your lovely comments on my blog. Good luck with yours!
Take care

Fantastic pictures! I can see your love!
last year we found the most rusted up camper van stuck in an overgrown field in Corfu -- Hub wouldn't let me bring it home :-( .. I'll have to find the pictures.
I loved your blog. I have always had a hankering for a VW camper van and the first one you showed inside on your blog is so very pretty. And I loved the bird box too. And from Yorkshire, well that just explains it all. Thanks, I enjoyed reading it all. Karen
If only I owned one too - I'm too old to get one for my 40th so I'm now hankering for one to retire with (I keep telling Neil I am going to stop work when I am 50 at the latest - 8 yrs to go). I plan on being a cool 50 yr old silver haired bohemian travelling around cornwall in an orange and white VW - yes I have it all planned out. In the meantime I'll have to make do with the VW calendar I've bought for next year!!!
I think we all hanker after one of those don't you... my parents had a bright orange one back in the 70's and we travelled Europe in it, camping on the beach in Portugal, eating fresh croissants in France and overheating in Madrid!!!! Ooooh, I so wish they still had it.. I wonder where it is now??
That's pure classy style that is! Makes camping look glamorous, and I'm a bit anti-camping, I have to admit!
Love Vanessa xxx (do you mind if i knit)
My dad had a green vw camper in the 1970's and I sooooooooo wish he had kept it. What I wouldnt give now to have it. I often wonder what happened to it. I remember us going camping in it. And I love Beetles too, we have such similar tastes its spooky! LOL! X
Hello, I just had to visit your blog (seen on Dorset Cereals)as my little grandson's name is Bertie. I am glad I visited as your blog is lovely. Also I LOVE 'VW' camper vans and would so like to own one, or at the other end of the spectrum an 'Airstream' would be nice too. I visit a blog where the owner has an Airstream as her office/workroom in her 'Yard' as our overseas friends call their vast gardens.
Hey Bertie, just thinking about you and hoping you and your family are okay. Can you tell I miss you?
